Royal Troon has two 18-hole courses, the lesser known Portland Course and the more well known Championship Course which has hosted The Open several times. The first four or five courses are considered by some a little boring, perhaps see it as a good warm up? It gets better! The 6^th hole is the longest par 5 on an Open course, and the 8^th, aptly named The Postage Stamp, is the shortest par 3. Be careful on the 11^th, the railway line runs along it and as such is out of bounds. The final few holes are nearly always played into the prevailing wind, most people look forward to sitting down in the amazing clubhouse afterwards to watch other players fight their way up the 18^th!
