Gullane has 3 courses, of which 2 are the best in the United Kingdom, no1 is actually ranked 66 in the whole world!
Gullane has three courses, aptly named No 1, No 2 and No 3! No 1 is the championship course, ranked as 66th best course in the world, and is host to qualifiers to The Open as well as the Scottish Open.
The No 1 course is from around 1880 but no one knows who originally designed it, it is thought that the locals simply put some bunkers in, mowed the grass into greens and fairways and started playing!
Gullane No 1 is together with Muirfield and North Berwick what some people refer to as the trinity, three amazing courses close together.
Gullane No 2 is also a great course and sometimes used as a qualifier for The Open. It was designed by Willie Park Junior in 1899 who was then the current Open Champion. The first seven holes runs along the No 1 course but it then turns and follows the nature reserve next door. If you would like to play 36 holes in a day we strongly recommend playing both No 1 and No 2!
