You’ll need straight shots on the Royal Dublin course with a long last 9.
Although founded in the late 1800’s, the Royal Dublin suffered so much damage during the first world war, that it was completely rebuilt in the 1920s by Harry Colt. In 2004-2006 Martin Hawtree redeveloped the course focusing on making the greens more undulating.
Although still fairly flat, the fairways are narrow and there is plenty of out of bounds and bunkers, so your shots need to be straight. There is quite a Scottish feel to Royal Dublin, it’s nearly a traditional out and back 9, and the use of burns and gorse reminds us a bit of Royal Troon.
Save your energy for the last nine, there’s only one par 3, and the remaining holes are roughly 250 yards longer than the first nine!
