Portstewart Golf Club has actually got three courses but the majority of tourists come here to play the Strand course, partly because it has one of the best opening holes in the world. A big statement, but one we think is accurate! A downhill par 4 with a right dogleg with out of bounds running alongside, and a green hidden in massive dunes it is sure to wake you up, and the following 8 holes on the first 9 keeps you on your toes too.

With a very natural routing through the dunes and several doglegs you never quite know what is going to come next on this course. The last nine may be less spectacular but are nonetheless a test for all but the absolute best of players. Portstewart has a great greenkeeping team and the course is in great condition all year round, something the ensured that the Irish Open has opted to come back here again!
