Although Old Head was only established in 1997 it looks like it has been there much longer as it fits so beautifully into the landscape.

This truly stunning course is not for those that don’t like heights as parts of it stretches out on the magnificent cliffs, 300 feet above the sea, with the waves of the Atlantic Ocean crashing into them below. Some visitors feel that the inland holes are not as good as the cliffside ones but we think they are just as good, in fact if they were anywhere else they would be labelled brilliant, but after the high adrenaline cliff holes they falsely appear inferior.

This is a course where you really need to consider your shots, use the markers for the blind tee shots or you might never find your ball, as a matter of fact, remember to bring extra balls!

Our favourites are holes 12 and 16, the first is a par 5 stretching out onto a narrow cliff and the latter a par 3 where many a golfer has lost of ball to the sea…Old Head has excellent practice facilities with a warm up range, putting green as well as a short game practice area.
